Not really sure yet what's gonna go on this page. I just thought I'd better make a page called 'other stuff' in case I think of something I want to add to the site later and I can't find my felt tip pens to draw new buttons, or they've run out, or something. Maybe some links an' that. I dunno. Oh, have my recipe for cabbage and butter bean soup then. Cabbage is amazing stuff; a truly underrated vegetable. They fed it to rats and then blasted them with radiation, and the rats were OK! So if there's a nuclear war, eat loads of this. Take one onion, one potato, one tin butter beans, savoy
cabbage, white wine vinegar, vegetable stock (about a litre),
salt and pepper, bay leaves, oregano, olive oil, and butter or margarine. Drain and rinse the beans and add to the pan. Season generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Add a dash of white wine vinegar. Bring to the boil, then cover and simmer until potato is cooked through. Liquidise the soup, leaving behind some beans, potato and
cabbage for texture, according to taste. Bring back to
the boil then simmer again for at least five minutes; the longer the better.
Check seasoning, adding more salt if necessary, then
serve, adding more freshly ground black pepper. Mmmm. |
